Start.com – Techy Stuff

For all you computer buffs, check out http://www.Start.com. This is an “in production site” so not final. It’s by Microsoft and lets you add any RSS feed you wish e.g. BBC News (they’ve an RSS feed for each section) or even add this blog site, just add http://spaces.msn.com/members/leodsplace/feed.rss, it will give you a list of the current posts and pictures.

In case you don’t know what RSS is, check this BBC article http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/help/rss/default.stm. Put plainly, it allows you to identify the content you like and have it delivered directly to you. Rather than surfing the BBC site and then this blog site, you can just go to Start.com and all of the latest headlines and postings displayed on one page.

An image of how my Start.com page looks is attached.

Any website with an RSS feed will usually have a small orange logo (with RSS written in it) placed somewhere on the site.

Have Fun

P.S. Yes I know I’m a geek, it says so in my profile J
